Porcelain Veneers
Fountain Valley, CA

Your teeth do a lot for you. They help you to bite and chew a wide variety of delicious foods. They allow you to speak effectively. They also play an integral role in maintaining the strength and shape of your jawbone. In addition to these functions, the teeth are also a major player in the quality of your smile. Even small imperfections in your teeth can have a major effect, impacting your confidence and the impressions you leave. At Bijan Family Dental Practice, we can enhance the beauty of your smile with porcelain veneers.

Minor Imperfections That Can Have a Major Impact

There are some different minor imperfections that can significantly impact the quality of your smile and your confidence.
•  Small chips or cracks in your tooth enamel.
•  Spaces between your teeth.
•  Minor overlapping.
•  Teeth that are smaller than the rest or that are misshapen.
•  Discoloration.

What Are Veneers?

Veneers are a restoration designed to correct the appearance of teeth affected by minor flaws, greatly improving the quality of your smile. They are small, thin shells that are made to fit over the front surfaces of your affected teeth. Veneers effectively cover over the flaws, completely transforming the appearance of your smile and boosting your confidence.

Why Porcelain?

Veneers are typically made from either composite resin or porcelain. While both types of veneers can restore your smile, porcelain is a much more effective option. Porcelain can be made to perfectly match the exact color of your natural teeth. The material even mimics the way in which your tooth enamel reflects light. Porcelain is also stronger than composite resin. It can stand up to more use and has a longer lifespan. Composite resin only lasts 7 to 10 years, where porcelain can last 15 years or more.

Other benefits of porcelain veneers include:
•  Stain-resistance. Composite resin is porous and can stain just like your natural tooth enamel. This material cannot be whitened. Porcelain, on the other hand, is stain-resistant, and can even resist stains better than your natural teeth.
•  Biocompatibility. Porcelain will not irritate your gum tissue.
•  A more natural restoration for your teeth, greatly enhancing your smile.

Getting Your Porcelain Veneers

To get porcelain veneers, we need to remove a small portion of the enamel from the front surfaces of your affected teeth. This process, done under local anesthetic, is necessary to ensure that your veneers fit properly in place and look completely natural. Next, we take an impression of your mouth and use a specialized color guide to match the exact color of your natural teeth. The impression and the color information are sent to our dental lab where they are used to custom create your porcelain veneers. It can take up to two weeks for the restorations to be completed. Once they are ready, a second appointment is required. At this appointment, we check your veneers for proper fit, bite, and appearance before bonding them into place.

With veneers, we can help to greatly enhance the beauty of your smile, which can help to significantly boost your confidence. Call Bijan Family Dental Practice at (714) 421-4494 to schedule your appointment and find out what veneers can do for you.
